| I can write about Jackson Hole with a slight degree
of knowledge and authority, but most of my memories are a blurry montage
of beautiful and breathtaking scenery, nice locals, and a hip, bustling
town full of great shopping and amenities.
My wife and I did not get married in Jackson Hole, but part of
our honeymoon took place here. We opted out of flying overseas for
our post-wedding bliss. Instead, we pointed our car north, and did
an extended road-trip through the western United States. Jackson
Hole was one of the most awe-inspring stops along the way.
Getting to Jackson Hole and Teton Village isn't as hard as you
might think. If you are coming in from the south, you'll likely
be taking Highway 189, through Bondurant. It's a pretty straightforward
road, however it can get very snowy and icy in the winter, so be
careful. If you are coming in from Idaho, you'll be on Highway 22
from Victor, most likely. Highway 191 continues north to Yellowstone
National Park.
Jackson Hole is also serviced by air. The Jackson
Hole Airport is situated at the base of the awesome Teton Mountains,
located completely within Grand Teton National Park. Your wedding
party might fly into Denver or Salt Lake City, and then take a connecting
flight into the Jackson Hole Airport. The following airlines service
this airport:
American
Delta
Northwest
Skywest
United
United Express
You and your wedding party will have a most excellent time in the
Jackson area. There is plenty to do any season. One of the popular
highlights is the Grand
Teton National Park. Towering mountains and a great chance to
see some spectacular wildlife are a few of the park highlights.
You are able to have a wedding in the park in a number of locations.
A few of the more popular venues are Schwabacher's Landing, Blacktail
Ponds Overlook and Signal Mountain Summit. A special park use permit
is required and entrance fee policies apply. A permit is required
to hold a wedding in the park unless it is at the Chapel of the
Transfiguration, the Chapel of the Sacred Heart, or a concession
facility.

There are plenty of places to stay in the Jackson area. If you
are looking for a wilderness experience, you might want to check
out the Flat
Creek Ranch. This is a wilderness dude ranch with legendary
fishing, hiking, and dining. Although it is "out in the wilderness"
- you will be living in luxury. There are five log cabins, clawfoot
bathtubs, and woodburing stoves. The Lodge is kind of the social
heart of the ranch, where you'll find gourmet cooking and cozy surroundings.
The Flat Creek Ranch can be contacted by calling Phone 307-733-0603.
There are also several hotels, inns, and motels in Jackson. From
the more modest Days Inn, to the slopeside Snake River Lodge, to
the Lodge at Jackson Hole which features 154 luxury mini-suites,
fireplaces, mini bars, and much more.
A few of the local wedding favorites include:
Grand Teton Lodge Company - They will help you to plan and create
the perfect mountain wedding. Imagine the Grand Tetons as the backdrop
of your ceremony. You can plan on outstanding Rocky Mountain cuisine,
an amazing ballroom for your wedding reception, and first-class
service. For further information, please contact us at 307-543-3005.
For wedding photos in Jackson, you might want to contact Imagewell,
one of Jackson's premier wedding photographers. Canvas
Unlimited is a local company that offers ceremony tents, reception
tents, food prep and bar tents. You can contact them at 307-733-2250.
My wife and I only spent a day or two in Jackson, but our memories
are priceless. Strolling along the streets of Jackson, smelling
the delicious cookings of the local restaurants, and mingling with
the locals and tourists alike really made us feel right at home.
We continued on north and spent a few days in Yellowstone. Another
favorite spot of ours that offers it's own unique take on the beautiful
state of Wyoming.
