Park City - Mountain Wedding, Elegant Bliss!

Park City Utah is perhaps one of my favorite places in the world. I didn't get married here (but it was in the running to be our wedding location). My wife and I did, however, spend part of our honeymoon here. It was October of 2005, and it was a great time of year to be in Park City, and Utah in general. The town was fairly quiet, and restaurants were easy to get into. The leaves were still yellow, and there was a slight dusting of snow on the mountain. We could imagine the bustling crowds that would be showing up within a month to hit the world-famous ski slopes that provide the town with it's magical backdrop. It is a glorious town that would be perfectly suited for a Cinderella wedding ceremony!

Park City is situated in a mountain valley in Summit County, Utah. It's a smaller town, with only about 7,800 permanent residents. That number, however, can swell during the busy winter months when the ski resort is operating.

There is so much to choose from in and around Park City that covers many different tastes and likes. Park City itself is very resort-like, with numerous quaint shops, fancy restaurants, and amble-friendly sidewalks! For a wedding, many of the local restaurants do catering, and there are numerous great reception location possibilities in town. The Blind Dog Grill is a great place for Seafood and Sushi. They have a wide variety of different menus, and a custom menu can be designed to fit your wedding theme. Another option for both lodging and catering/banquets in Park City is the Best Western Landmark Inn. They have several menu selections, and can do anything from barbecues, seafood, or more traditional meals. The Landmark Inn has banquet rooms and facilities that can hold up to 180 guests. In the warmer months they can do a poolside reception or buffet.

If you are looking for a more elegant venue for your Park City Wedding, you can go just up the road to the famous and elegant Deer Valley Resort. The resort strives to be top-notch in every way with award-winning cuisine and world-class service. There are three majestic lodges that are accented with brass, high, vaulted ceilings, and log pillars. The lodges are named the Snow Park Lodge, which is at the base of the mountain; The Silver Lake Lodge which is up at mid-mountain, and the Empire Canyon Lodge, located at the bottom of Empire Canyon. The latter is a great place for an outdoor event, as it offers magnificent mountain views.

A recommendation for lodging in the Park City area is the Stein Eriksen Lodge. This location may be especially appropriate for the bride and groom, as it is a truly romantic lodge. Tucked in the aspen and pine trees, it offers direct access to the ski resort of Deer Valley, and the chairlifts. It is a very European-themed lodge, and boasts a five-diamond rating. One of the most convenient things about the Park City Area is that if it isn't in Park City, it is most certainly close by. Salt Lake City is just a short drive down the canyon, where you will find big city life, and more services than you might find in Park City. There are numerous bridal shops and wedding stores in SLC. There are also several other ski resorts in the area, just a short drive from Park City. Snowbird and Alta are just a short drive, and Brighton and Solitude are also within about an hour from Park City.
