In Defense of the "Family
Only" wedding:
I have heard it time and time again in my old "banquet
and catering" days. It's the tired, worn out bride
and groom who declare that their wedding has gotten out
of control. It's "too big" and "too expensive"
and they feel like they have lost control.
One solution to this is to have a "family only"
wedding. By doing this, you will most certainly save money,
time, and your sanity! These are becoming more common, as
the cost of travel has gone up and most people simply don't
have the time to take a week off of work to attend a wedding.

Sheridan Wyoming - A
Rootin' Tootin' Wedding Location!
A little bit about Sheridan
and area:
Are you looking for one of the most rootin-est,
tootin-est Wild West Weddings in the world? You'll need a few items
- A couple of ten-gallon hats, some spurs, horses, some great country
music, and perhaps a reception at a rowdy cowboy bar. Oh, you'll
also need a place to do it - and Sheridan, Wyoming might be the
perfect place to "exchange them vows, I reckon!" Sheridan
has been ranked by True
West Magazine as the top western town (2006).
A few Sheridan Facts:
Sheridan is in the northern part of Wyoming on highway 87. It's
only about an hour from Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area,
and maybe just about an hour from Billings, Mt. There are about
16,000 people living here, and it is the county seat of Sheridan
County.
Sheridan has a great climate in the summer. It is usually in the
mid-70's to mid-80's in the peak summer months, with the occasional
day that is in the 100's. The winter can be quite cold, with highs
in the 30's. Regardless of the season, if you are planning a wedding
in the Sheridan area, be prepared for both hot and cold, wet and
dry!
Having a wedding in Sheridan can be an adventure of a lifetime,
and something that is truly unique. If you are getting married during
the winter months, you might want to offer the wedding party a snowmobiling
tour of the Bighorn Mountains! There are 218 miles of top-ten rated
groomed trails. There's also many ungroomed trails for the more
adventurous snowmobiler. Or, if you are having your ceremony during
the warmer months, the avid fishermen and women may wish to do some
fly fishing in one of the many great spots in the Sheridan area!
In the summer, your wedding party can also participate in the Sheridan-WYO
Rodeo, held in mid-July. This is one of the oldest rodeos in the
country, and is followed by a great parade, bed races, and lots
of festivities. If you are getting married in the fall, you can
arrange a day trip for your wedding party to see the fall colors!
The Big Horn mountains offer wonderful fall foliage viewing possibilities,
as well as wildlife viewing galore in the large, open meadows that
seem to be everywhere!
Even in the wild west, most people still prefer to get married
in a church. Sheridan has many wedding venues and churches
to choose from, and many faiths are represented. A few are:
Calvary Baptist Church 1660 Big Horn Avenue 307-672-3149
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 2051 Colonial Drive
307-672-2926(First and Second Ward)
Northside Church of Christ 58 W. 5th Street 307-672-2825
You can also contact a local pastor for officiant requests and
information:
Pastor Pete Zeitlow 567 Long Drive (office) 307-752-0207 (office)
